It is small and smart in design. There is no need for additional earthing hardware to be installed next to your consumer unit, so the installation is super simple. It will be the first charger to integrate with our latest smart tariff - Octopus Intelligent - where we monitor and optimise your charging via our own Octopus App. Wallbox also has their own App that allows you to monitor consumption and schedule your charging times, meaning it integrates with Octopus Go tariffs.

If you are wanting a discrete, small but smart charger on the side of your home then this is perfect. This charger has been made to be hidden and fit into any home! It's also a great choice if you have limited power supply at your home, as they can provide an additional device to manage this. Their App allows you to sync up with our Octopus Go tariff, ensuring you charge at cheap times overnight. It will require a separate earthing device as part of the installation.

If you are looking to directly integrate your solar power or battery storage to your charger then the Zappi is for you. This smart charger can directly divert your excess solar energy straight into your car! There is no need for additional earthing hardware to be installed next to your consumer unit, so the installation is simple, though it does come with an additional hub to make it smart. Their App also allows you to set charging times to link up to Octopus EV tariffs and monitor your consumption.

What does a standard installation include?

 

  • Fitting the charger on a brick or plaster wall, or other suitable permanent structure

  • Routing the cable through one drilled hole in a wall up to 20 inches thick, where required

  • Up to 15 metres of High Tuff cable, run and clipped to the wall between the consumer unit and the charger, up to a height of up to 1.8m

  • Complete all necessary electrical connections from the origin of the supply to the charger

  • Install a Type A RCD in the consumer unit

  • Supply up to 3 metres of plastic conduit or trunking to conceal interior wiring

  • Carry out all necessary Electrical testing and NICEIC Certification

  • Fitting of earthing unit (e.g. Garo or Matt:e brand) where necessary

  • Commissioning of the chargepoint

  • Carry out a demonstration of the charger functions and App

  • Claiming the OZEV grant on your behalf

Please note, lead times for installing your charger are estimated at around

6-8 weeks from point of order. 


And don't forget to pair your smart charger with an energy tariff designed for EV drivers, so you can power your vehicle with the smartest, cheapest and greenest energy.

Finally, you'll need a copy of your energy bill to grab your MPAN number from

 

*Please note: 

  • You may need an isolator switch before the chargepoint can be installed. If we are your energy supplier, we can do this for you. If we are not, you will need to ask your supplier to install one.  

  • This switch allows our engineer to isolate the supply to the house in order to safely install the charger. Once the charger has been installed, it can be isolated for house supply.

  • You may also not have sufficient power supply at your home. If that is the case you will need to request a power supply upgrade from your local District Network Operator, you can find yours here

Your installation journey

Not sure what to expect on your charging journey - check out our step-by-step guide below: 

  1. Complete your online application and submit it to the team. Our sister company Octopus Energy Services will take you through your install journey and arrange the install. They will get in touch within a few working days to progress it.

  2. Our engineers will use all the information and photos you’ve provided to do a remote site survey to ensure it is a standard install and decide the best logistics for the job (essentially where to lay the cabling and identify whether any electrical work needs doing in advance!). 

  3. We will then confirm a final price to you, including any additional costs if it’s not standard, and/or any works are required before we can undertake the install*. 

  4. Leads time for installing your charger are estimated at around 6-8 weeks from point of order. We will do our best to make sure we find a suitable date if you need it sooner.

  5. On the day, you will receive a message to let you know that we are on the way. The install of the charger takes up to 4 hours.

  6. We will need to turn the power off in your home for a short period - don't worry, this will be explained and arranged by your engineer on the day.

  7. Once we’ve completed the install, our engineer will guide you through how to use the charger and download any associated Apps to help provide you with the best charging experience.
